Thanksgiving is almost upon us and one of the things that I’m most thankful for in real estate is the people that I meet and the friendships that linger long after closing. In 2012 I hosted about 14 “friends who are family”. This year the number is closer to 20. I love it – and I love it more now it has become a tradition. This year I am tasked with the turkey. It’s my first time cooking it all by myself and of course I’m a bit nervous. Who wants to be the person who ruined the thanksgiving turkey?!
Thankfully the universe heard my cries for help and last week I received an email from a friend, asking me to forward a chain letter of sorts… but she called this one a “recipe swap”. I don’t usually do these sorts of things, but it seemed harmless and I was feeling uninspired in the kitchen of late.
Several recipes have come back to me just as the email promised they would, but I was most excited to see one from friend-client, Kathy. After all, I have eaten at her house and it was good! I was not let down.
The following thanksgiving turkey recipe is meant to be shared and I just couldn’t risk waiting another 5 years for the next chain letter opportunity, before I could pass it on. So here goes….
Easy Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe
… A roasted turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing – imagine that!
When I received this, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when their thanksgiving turkey is thoroughly cooked but not dried out. Give it a try.
12-15 lb. Chicken
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing
1 cup uncooked popcorn Salt/pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Brush chicken well with melted butter salt, and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing mixed with popcorn.
Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the front of the oven.
Listen for the popping sounds.
When the chicken’s arse blows the oven door open and the thanksgiving turkey flies across the room and lands on the table, it’s done and ready to eat. Foolproof!
