If you are like me, you may find its easy to feel grateful for the music sometimes, without having full consciousness that the gift comes from the person, not the piano.

I fly.  I love to fly.  When I’m up in the sky, surrounded by sunshine and space, I am in my own little world and it feeds my soul.  Sometimes my landings are less than elegant, sometimes they are smile-worthy.  Often I find myself saying after the less than elegant landings, if I had a better aircraft to fly, my skills would be be better.  But the music is not in the piano!  If I want to be a better pilot, I need to practice, practice, practice.  It really doesn’t make too much of a difference (within reason) what I’m flying.

Being a Realtor is the same way.  Before I work with a Seller, I have:
  • Already spent hours practicing staging rooms.  In my house, the furniture constantly gets moved, lighting placed and replaced, the latest colors researched and art and accessories changed out more often than a sane person would entertain doing.
  • Spent time behind the lens, studying light and angles and composition. My Flickr account testifies that I have 45,000+ pictures saved!
  • Taken challenging classes and role played negotiation scenarios with fellow Realtors and (un)willing friends. 🙂
  • Made sure that I’m extremely familiar with the annual changes to contracts, new document requirements and the recent law changes that affect my clients.

My job is to provide extraordinary service to my clients.  Practice makes perfect, but using my clients for the practice is not the best I can offer them.  They deserve for me to have practiced ahead of time.  Buyers and Sellers expect (and deserve) a Realtor who is prepared, skilled and has systems in place that work.

Seriously… When I list your home, I expect that it will be under contract in 14 days or less.
My average days to get an accepted offer on a listing in 2014 was 2.
My average sales price/list price in 2014 was >100%
