The Boulder County EnergySmart program is what I used to vanquish my 1955 single pane metal framed windows. They were replaced with new, energy efficient, “Integrity by Marvin” fiberglass windows last week.
If you have been following my story you might also remember that the lovely guys at Efficiency Matters, have been braving the cold and dreary late November/early December weather to do a spectacular job. They arrive on time every day, their smiling faces are quickly at work with a minimum of noise and chaos. At all times they have been considerate and friendly, never once did I hear about the bitter cold as they powered away, bringing my modest home into the 21st century. So here I am, new windows installed and trimmed, inside and out. The guys have caulked and I am ready to complete the project with a couple of coats of white paint. It’s time to pay them 🙂
The first step was to confirm with Jen Harper, my energy adviser at Boulder County EnergySmart, that the job is complete and I am satisfied with the work. She then confirmed with Elevations Credit Union that I was ready to pay them. I can close on the loan that has been made possible through the partnership of Elevations Credit Union and Boulder County EnergySmart.
It’s really as easy as it sounds. Jen has been a star. Nothing has been too much work or too complicated. The home improvement qualifies for the work, I qualify for the loan… And the rest is a blur!
Nate Morzel, a lender services specialist at Elevations Credit Union, sent me the following email on November 4th:
Hi Dallice,
I just wanted to let you know that I received the approved Efficiency Matters bid for $9,560 from your energy advisor. This project may now begin. I know you mentioned that it would be completed right before or after Thanksgiving, so just let me know once it is finished and then I can have you sign for your energy loan electronically with a click-to-sign program that would arrive in your e-mail.
Once you sign, I can arrange payment with Efficiency Matters for the full amount of $9,560. Please let me know if you have any questions at this time.

See! Super easy and stress-free. I didn’t even need to go into the Credit Union to sign. Like me in my real estate business, they use Docusign and with the click of a mouse, the loan paperwork was completed online. It works for me, for Nate and of course speeds up the process for paying Efficiency Matters. What’s not to love?
After I “clicked to sign” and was almost immediately cc’d on an email from Nate at Elevations, to Greg Fox at Efficiency Matters, letting him know payment was ready.
Can you believe that just 6 weeks ago I was the less-than-proud owner of drafty, freezing, wet windows? That with help from Boulder County EnergySmart and Elevations Credit Union, I chose qualified professionals to do the job, got windows ordered and installed… And really got a good deal on both the windows and the energy loan.
Just in the nick of time. Its zero degrees outside this week!!
