And by dull I mean, her Colorado Realtor brain slows down and with it, her productivity! Not to mention her friends and clients begin to wonder if she has a life outside of Denver-Boulder real estate and property management.
Just for the record, she does have a life! It is this “life” that will return me fresh and motivated next Monday… Until then, text/email/call if you need me. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, from Aspen! 🙂
My Friday:
This morning, fresh from a rather great closing, I packed for the weekend and set off for Aspen with Mark. The sun was shining and we were fully caffeinated and still sporting a Dizzy Donut’s sugar high as we blew out of town. By lunch time we were munching on fresh basil pesto, tomato and mozzarella sandwiches in Leadville and shortly after that Independence Pass beckoned.
The leaves are at their peak in some places, but holding onto tinges of green in others.
A spectacular drive lay before us as we left Twin Lakes. Between us, we had every memory-capturing gadget you can imagine… And we used every opening and angle the moving car offered us, when it was impossible to stop!
At the top of Independence Pass we took a stroll to the view points. It was about as warm and calm as any day I have been here, which is really saying something since this is my 10th year of Rocky Mountain leaf-peeping in late September. Prepared with down jacket and boots, I was pleasantly surprised when able to comfortably meander around in cotton pants and a light sweatshirt. Me and 100 other people! (The downside to fabulous weather and unparalleled beauty is you have to share it.)
There were still the occasional wildflowers hanging in there at 12,000 feet. The last of the season, above treeline and barely above the inch high greenery growing between the lichen covered rocks.

Descending toward the valley below, groves of Aspens welcomed us. Green and gold leaves, white trunks. Stunning blue sky with puffy clouds above. It smelled like the changing seasons.
Ok, so what is my message to you all, today?
Get out there and enjoy our beautiful state! If you are like most of us, you moved here for quality of life reasons too… Sunshine, gorgeous natural resources, the chance to frolic in four distinct seasons, breathe the fresh (albeit thin) air, appreciate the good life we are so privileged to have created for ourselves and each other.
RIGHT NOW is the best time to enjoy the fall colors. The weather is still darn good and you deserve the opportunity to gaze lovingly at Colorado, in all its natural beauty.
