2015 New Year’s Resolutions : Aim high -> Big Goals!

2015 New Year’s Resolutions – Where To Start?

Good morning everyone!  I trust you are having wonderful holidays. If you are reading this blog (or Facebook) you are probably like me, having trouble settling back into “real work” this week… Are you eagerly anticipating the new year?  Will 2015 be your best year yet? Are you prepared to make it you best year ever?

It’s time to let go of 2014…

2015 New Year's Resolutions

We are just 2 days from 2015. In order to achieve your goals, you are going to need to identify them!  I spent 3 days in a goals and reflections retreat with myself in November. It’s important to look back for a couple of reasons:

1.  To recognize what you did achieve.  It is easy to forget, so grab the photos, log into Facebook and remind yourself. Take out your Net Worth sheet and fill it out. Compare it to last year’s if you did one at the end of 2014.  (If you don’t have one and would like a quick and easy Net Worth sheet, just shoot me an email.)

2.  To be grateful for all the people and experiences that 2015 brought your way. It is virtually impossible to achieve or get more, without recognizing what you already have.

Looking back is great… It’s important, but it shouldn’t take much of your time. The past is the past, you can’t change it. The future is where your focus must be. The future starts today and you have the power to meld it and mold it, so spend way more time asking yourself what you want out of 2015.

When you are finished, ask yourself:  “Who do I need to become in order to get what I want?”  This question might surprise you, as it did me. It’s a very important twist on “what do I have to DO to get what I want this year?”

2015 New Year’s Resolutions should be balanced

You have many roles. Maybe you are a mom, daughter or sister? Colleague… Friend… Teacher… Spouse or partner… Neighbor… Business Owner… Team-mate?  You probably have goals in all of these areas, but be careful about giving up some areas in order to achieve greatness in others.

Are your 2015 New Year’s Resolutions SMART?

S – Specific     Who/What/Where/How/When?

M – Measurable     Add measurements and tracking details.

A – Attainable     You’ll likely need resources, time and support.  Who will you need to become? Don’t be afraid to aim high.

R – Relevant    EXTREMELY important… Why do you want to achieve this goal? Find your motivation here.

T – Timely     Use deadlines and benchmarks.

(I also have a SMART sheet for this. If you’d like a copy, email me.)

Now that you have written your goals down, don’t tuck them into a drawer and think the universe will deliver, with no further action from you. What are you going to do today to move you a step closer to achieving a 2015 New Year’s resolution? Start with baby steps.  What are you planning on doing this week? This month?

A week from now, pull out your goals and review them. Do it every week.

Ok… So what are a few of Dallice’s (business) 2015 New Year’s Resolutions?

  • Increase the number of real estate transactions I complete
  • Maintain >85% are referral and repeat repeat clients
  • Create a year-round business  (I previously took the winter off)
  • Add 2 more Boulder property management clients to my portfolio
  • Buy an investment property

Of course I will need your help to achieve my goals! Just as you might need mine to achieve yours.

But the real question is “Who do I need to become to earn your business and therefore achieve my goals in 2015?”

I would love to hear your thoughts. What topics and information would you like to see addressed on this blog? My real estate investment group meets once a month. You are welcome to join and I welcome your suggestions on conversations topics/special guests that might help you get closer to your real estate investment goals.

I have eager buyers waiting for the right properties as we speak and will post a list of their needs soon. If you know of anyone thinking of selling or buying, I’d love the chance to earn their business and will work my tail off to make you look good for referring them to me!

Until then… Happy New Year!  I will be raising a glass to you on December 31st, thanking you for being a part of my 2014 and sipping in the new year with a smile at Chautauqua – hoping we will see each other soon.
