Earlier this year, after 3 years of classes, I was designated a Master Certified Negotiation Expert.
The Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE) program is the premier and most comprehensive negotiation program in real estate. It consists of six training courses, covering professional negotiation theory and techniques, as well as practical application to real estate situations.
The Real Estate Negotiation Institute (RENI) is a member of the Harvard Program on Negotiation. This program researches literature around the world to bring the best possible training to real estate professionals.
At the time I received this designation there were only about 5000 MCNE agents nationwide.
Why is it important to chose a Realtor who has professional negotiation training? There are several reasons.
1. I can help you identify your needs and wants, formulate a strategy for attaining these goals and execute the plan.
2. In business, it is rare for a party to negotiate on their own behalf. Better results are generally achieved when a professional goes to bat for you. Your emotions are valuable, but tend not to serve you in tense situations when you have something to lose or gain.
3. Perhaps just as important; I can identify the needs and wants of the other party. Once we have that in mind we can leverage what we offer and get both parties (happily) on the same page.
A good negotiation is one that involves ongoing positive communication, progress and a win-win outcome. There are time constraints to consider, personalities to work with and goals to be met. I absolutely love this part of my job. Every negotiation is different but the principles for getting the job done right, are the same every time.
